Contemporary International Problems
Contemporary International Problems explores critical problems in international politics. We examine different regions and occurring issues specific to that area. These topics range from violence and terrorism to migration and securitization. In this course, we critically analyze academic literature and current policies; have online Socratic seminars; and formulate our own opinions about current international policies.
The Japanese Sense of Beauty
The Japanese Sense of Beauty explores the impeccable literary works by great Japanese writers and film directors. Through formal teachings of characteristics present in Japanese modern literature and films, we look towards the new generation of Japanese writers and film markers like Yoshimoto Banana and Akira Kurosawa. Throughout this course, we had major discussions on different types of literature and diverse literary topics present in Japanese work.
Studies In World Religions
Studies In World Religions provided the main theories on the study of religions and exploration of different religions across the world. We examined Abrahamic religions (e.g. Christianity, Judaism, and Islam), Indigenous Religions, African Religions (e.g. Yoruba and Vodou), and Asian Religions (e.g. Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism and Sikhism). We had Socratic seminars discussing history of these religions and comparing them to each other.
